Mission Statement

Art (_rt) n - Creative or imaginative activity, esp. the expressive arrangement of elements within a medium. (American Heritage Dictionary)

A fine artist sees each blank canvas as the starting point for infinite possibilities. A palette of paints and a brush are the tools that help to free the artist's point of view for the world to see and experience. As redecorators we see each home as a blank canvas and each client's existing collection of furniture and rooms is our palette. The client is the brush through which we effectuate a creative collaboration.

At The Art of Redecorating™ my philosophy is to work in your existing home with your existing collections and with your taste. What is it that turns you on? What makes you happy? What articles, artifacts or art represent who you are and what is important to you? Let's work together and make your home a masterpiece.

Biography

With over 11 years in residential and commercial interior design, Leigh Calmar Psaltos, a certified member of the Interior Refiners Network and an ASID allied member, brings a wealth of experience that is unique among interior redecorators and valuable to her private residential clients. Clients have included an array of celebrities and noteworthy industrialists as well as corporate clients such as JPMorganChase and Citigroup.

Leigh Psaltos trained personally with Lauri Ward, who is nationally recognized as the pioneer of one day redecorating, best selling author and founder of Use What You Have Interiors ® and founder of the Interior Refiners Network.® Prior to that, Leigh worked for the late Naomi Leff and for Stephen Shadley, both of whom were recognized in January 2005 by Architectural Digest as among the "30 Deans of American Design". She credits Ms. Leff as being one of her most influential mentors. Early in her career, Leigh worked as a Mechanical Artist and Art Director for five years at Boston's leading advertising agency, Hill Holiday Connors Cosmopoulos.

Ms. Psaltos earned her Certificate in Interior Design in 1995 from the Boston Architectural Center, where she also won the Interior Design Thesis Award for Retail Design, and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art/Watercolor and Oils from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio. At Wooster she presented her work in a show entitled: "Landscaping with Human Forms". She is also fortunate to have studied under the late master Mark W. Potter while at the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut and with Richard Pionk at the Art Student's League in New York City.
